The tower of Fontanedo has been opened to visitors for some years and it is currently managed by the association Museo della Guerra Bianca in Adamello. You have to pay a ticket to enter the tower and to know more about its opening dates you can check the website or the social media of Forte Montecchio Nord. The tower consists of three floors where you can learn more about its history and the events the involved it. When you reach the roof, you will enjoy a spectacular view of the lake and the sorrounding mountains.
The tower can be reached only on foot. You can drive until the restaurant "Robustello" and from there you can take a circular path that will lead you to the tower in about twenty minutes through the woods. It is a nice walk suitable for everyone except from strollers, since it is mostly a dirt track. Before reaching the tower you will see the walls that protected the old village of Fontanedo. In fact, at the base of the tower there were some buildings such as ovens, stables and even a still visible chapel where you can admire a copy of its original fresco that is now kept in the church of Curcio.
At the base of the tower there is also a lawn with a picnic table where you can eat your packed lunch sorrounded by the silence of nature.
Thus, the tower of Fontanedo is an ideal trip for everyone who want to take a simple walk with a taste of history.
