Spring 2024 on Lake Como: open attractions and events in March

Spring is about to bloom and it is the perfect season for a trip out of town.

Its colors and scents are ready to frame the splendid Lake Como where, in the month of March 2024, many attractions of historical and cultural interest in the eastern side of the Lake will reopen their gates after the long winter break.

In this article we will list the main attractions, with their spring opening days and times.

• Castello di Vezio in Varenna will be open every day starting from March 1st from 10:00 to 17:00 (delayed closing at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday).
  

• Villa Monastero, another famous attraction in Varenna, will reopen on March 2nd. You can visit the splendid botanical garden every day from 10:00 to 5:00 p.m. and the house museum on Friday, Saturday and Sunday always in the same time slot, which will then be extended until 7:30 p.m. in the months of April and May .
  

• Forte Montecchio Nord in Colico will offer hourly guided tours starting from March 2nd. This spring you can visit it on Saturdays and Sundays, with the first tour at 10am and the last at 5pm. (For Saturdays in March the opening will only be in the afternoon).
  

• The nearby Forte Fuentes will also be open to visitors from March 2nd on Saturday and Sunday in the same time slot but without guided tours. (For Saturdays in March the opening will only be in the morning).
  

• The medieval Fontanedo Tower in Colico will reopen its doors on March 30th and can be visited from 10:00 to 5:00.
  

• The Orezia Tower in Dervio will reopen on the weekends of April 2024.
  

• The Torre di Maggiana Museum in Mandello del Lario will be open in the mornings from 9.30 to 12.30 p.m. in the months of March and April.
  

Here are also some interesting events that will be held in March on the eastern shore of Lake Como.

• On March 10, as part of the Lake Como Walking Festival, an original literary "battle" enriched by musical accompaniment will be held between the town of Nesso, on the Como side of the lake, and that of Bellano, to discover both villages and they famouse gorges . • On Saturday 16th, Sunday 17th and Tuesday 19th March, don't miss the traditional feast of San Giuseppe in Lezzeno, a hamlet of Bellano, with bonfires, legends and history waiting for you.
  

• In Colico until Sunday 10 March you can admire the exhibition "Afghanistan through the eyes of a woman" at the municipal library.
  

• March is also the month of Women's Day and Mandello del Lario wants to celebrate this anniversary with a rich program of events and meetings from the 1st to the 26th of this month. You can download the complete flyer here.
