From Corenno Plinio to Dorio on foot: a nice walk on Lake Como

If you are looking for an original idea about how to spend a few hours on the eastern branch of Lake Como, we recommend taking the beautiful path that connects the medieval village of Corenno Plinio to the village of Dorio. A flat, shaded and safe walk, therefore suitable for everyone, including families with children. Continue reading the article to find out all the details of this peaceful excursion on the Lake Como shores. The starting point is the square of Corenno Plinio, a small town in the municipality of Dervio, to which you can dedicate a few minutes of your time. You can walk around its castle-enclosure, visit the church of St. Thomas of Canterbury and descend the steep stairs carved into the rock to reach the lake. As regards the path we are talking about, you can reach it by going past the Taverna al Castello, and going down to the left. From this moment on, you will hike along the lake and the walk will be truly pleasant: among centuries-old trees, benches with a view and natural noises, in about half an hour you will reach the first of Dorio's beaches, where you will find the sailing school. Shortly afterwards you will come across a suggestive picnic area, where you can enjoy a packed lunch at the tables in front of a beautiful panorama.

Just after the picnic area there is another very quiet beach where you can relax and dive into the water. The path ends at the train station, where you can take a steep staircase under the SP 72 to reach the small town of Dorio.

From here you can decide to return towards Corenno Plinio following the same path, or take a local train that stops in the town of Dervio. It is also possible to choose to take a longer walk starting from Dervio rather than from Corenno Plinio, following the Sentiero del viandante up to the Corenno square and then reconnecting with the lakeside promenade.
